OTC Card at Grocery Stores

It depends on your plan. Some Medicare Advantage plans include a Healthy Foods benefit loaded on the same card as your OTC allowance. This is separate from the OTC benefit.

  • Plans WITH grocery benefit: UHC Dual Complete, Humana D-SNP, some Anthem D-SNP plans
  • Plans WITHOUT grocery: Most standard MA plans only cover OTC health products

What Groceries Are Covered?

If your plan includes a food benefit, eligible items typically include:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Whole grain bread, rice, pasta
  • Lean meats and fish
  • Dairy products (milk, cheese, eggs)
  • Canned vegetables and beans

Junk food, candy, soda, alcohol, and tobacco are never covered.
