Reading Glasses Covered by OTC

Most Medicare Advantage OTC benefits cover non-prescription reading glasses:

  • Standard readers: +1.00 to +3.50 magnification — $5–$15
  • Bifocal readers: Two magnification zones — $8–$20
  • Compact/folding readers: Portable styles — $8–$15
  • Blue light blocking readers: For computer/phone use — $10–$18

Choosing the Right Strength

Start with +1.25 if you've never worn readers. Try reading a medicine bottle at arm's length. Go up in +0.25 increments until text is clear and comfortable. Visit your optometrist for personalized recommendations.
