D-SNP Plans — Higher OTC Benefits

If you qualify for both Medicare AND Medicaid, you may be eligible for a Dual Special Needs Plan (D-SNP). These plans often include:

  • Higher OTC allowance: $150–$480/quarter (vs. $25–$100 on standard plans)
  • Grocery/food benefit: $50–$175/month at approved stores
  • Transportation benefit: Free rides to doctors and pharmacies
  • Dental, vision, hearing: More comprehensive coverage
  • $0 premiums: Most D-SNP plans have no monthly premium

Do You Qualify?

You qualify for D-SNP if you have both Medicare (Part A and/or B) and full Medicaid. Contact your state Medicaid office or call 1-800-MEDICARE to check eligibility. Enrollment is available year-round for D-SNP plans.
