How to Check Your OTC Benefit Balance Online in 2026
Three Ways to Check Your OTC Benefit Balance
Knowing your remaining OTC benefit balance helps you plan your purchases and avoid leaving money on the table. Here are the three easiest ways to check.
Method 1: Check Online (Fastest)
Most insurance plans offer online balance checking:
- Visit your plan's member portal (usually on your insurance card)
- Log in with your member ID and password
- Navigate to "Benefits" or "OTC Benefit" section
- Your current balance and transaction history will be displayed
Plan-specific portals:
- Humana: MyHumana.com → Benefits → OTC
- UnitedHealthcare: myUHC.com → Benefits & Coverage
- Anthem: Anthem.com → My Plan → OTC Benefits
- Aetna: Aetna.com → Member Benefits
Method 2: Call Member Services
Call the number on the back of your OTC card or your insurance card. You'll typically need:
- Your member ID number
- Date of birth for verification
- ZIP code
Average wait time: 5-15 minutes. Best times to call: Tuesday-Thursday, 10am-2pm.
Method 3: Check at the Store
At participating retailers, simply ask the pharmacist to check your OTC card balance, or attempt a small purchase — the receipt will show your remaining balance after the transaction.
Understanding Your Balance
Your balance resets every quarter. Q2 2026 runs April 1 - June 30. If your quarterly allowance is $75 and you've spent $30, you have $45 remaining for the quarter. Remember: unused balances do NOT roll over to the next quarter.
What to Do If Your Balance Seems Wrong
If your balance doesn't match your records, contact member services immediately. Common issues include delayed transaction processing (can take 24-48 hours), incorrect charges from retailers, and quarterly reset not yet applied.
